I went for morning prayer today. I went for mass today. I spent 45min sitting quietly and reflecting in the adoration room today. I attended a guided prayer today. This are the most prayerful things i did today. Wont elaborate more on this. Lao Shi did not come today. We thought we could sit back and relax but we still had HW. Too tired and lazy to type anymore. Good night!

Today can be considered the most prayerful day of the week. First, i woke up early for mass at 7am. Served that. Attended Sunday School. Was somewhat touch at what Ivan shared during the class. He shared about the people in poverty and i was touched. After that, had server's meeting. Quite slacked server's meeting. The head server and training IC were doing a refresher course and so, the rest of the core group, including me, slacked the whole time until the real meeting started. Said my final farewells to Deacon Francis, a Thai Deacon, as he was going off on Tues. Will miss him greatly. He liked to call me Tall Man...lol. Anyway, Fr Damian brought me to East Coast to eat some thing which i cannot remember the name but it was nice. Then we went to Holy Family. Attended the Day of Prayer for Vocations at Holy Family for about an hour than left as i needed to get back to church. Met Brother Jovita, Bro Jude and Bro Lionel all of whom i had met at the vocation camp last year. Unfortunately, the only seminarian brother i keep in contact with is Bro Jovita. Well, at least i am still in contact with the brothers. Got back to church, attended a talk on how to prayer properly and to meditate. Will be going to church everyday for 1 week to reflect on Gospels and prayer and meditate. Speaaking of Gospels, one phrase that strike me during mass is " For the Harvest is plenty but the laborers are few". I have totally no idea why this phrase strikes me but it has been in my head since this morning. That ends my prayerful day...

Some how, some way, i am in my parish's pastoral and vocation team! I did not even know that i was part of it until Fr Damian introduced me to a guy who is discerning to the priesthood. Fr said that i had experience! How i got into the vocation team is because i went through the vocation camp i think. It was a nice and inspiring camp. How i got into the pastoral team is because i go for hospital visits during holidays with the priest i think. Ministering to sick people is not as bad as it seems. I really feel a part of me actually going out to them and praying for them especially if they are in ICU or something. I wont share my experience of visiting the hospitals in this blog so if you want to know what it is like, come talk to me in school or something like that.

Do it if you can to see if you are a good friend but even if you dont do so well, it is ok. We can still be friends.

If you had realised, my blog skin has changed thanks to Mervyn. It is thanks to him that my blog skin has changed. He helped me get the skin, edited everything on it and even tested it out for me. He spent lots of time on it. About 1 or 2 hours. And for that, i am grateful!

I really have no idea what to name this post thus the name Friday. Ok, moving along, today was Mr Bennet's birthday. The teachers i think, bought a cake for him and the cake was distributed during break. Mr Justin was not around for almost half the day. The reason being that he was involved in some accident and therefore could not be in school as he was answering some questions. I do not have much details about this. We played basketball today for P.E. It was nice, but a bit disorganized. Had council meeting during lunch and Mr Marc did not come for math as he went with the scouts to Loola Resort in Bintan. Haha...hope they have fun. After school, i went to SMS with Jonathan Pong. According to Mr Siew, all the teachers should have been in the school but when we got there, there were only a handful left. Mr Siew said that was so because most of the teachers went to some function in the Singapore Expo. Wont go back to SMS until teacher's day or something like that. Nothing else exciting happened today so i will end here.

Sigh... I have news about my audition results. There is ok news, good news and of course, bad news. The ok news is that i dont have to play Shylock for the Merchant of Venice play. Instead, i will be the Shylock understudy. The bad news is that the main Shylock is JP. How could i lose to JP??!!! Lol...i am shocked. Anyway, the good news is that i don't have to memories any lines anymore. I will be playing the narrator in the Merchant of Venice.

I had the auditions for my role as Shylock today. I think i totally screwed up my auditions as i stammered half way through and paused a few times to recall my lines. I also did not use many expressions and i should have moved around. It was not my fault!! I did not know that i had to move. I thought i just had to stand there and read. I hope i did alright and that if i do not get Shylock, i will get the narrator post. Nothing much happened today other than that except that Dan brought us to a wonderfully nice and cheap Gelato shop in Novena Square 2. It was excellent.

Okay, when i was told of the deverstating result of the Tee Ball match, it was 9-1. Now, i know that i have been fooled. The actual score is 7-5 and we WON! I also learned that it was all a joke made by Patrick...Anyway, good Joke Patrick...

Well, i was sick today. It was the Tee Ball match day so i was rather unwilling not to go to school... But, as my Dad is a doctor, he drilled some sense into my head that if i go to school with a high fever, i will be sent home anyway. Besides, i will not be able to play anyway so i obediently went back to sleep... I found out that i had a high fever at 3am. I woke up sweating and gasping for breath. I went to my parents room to ask what i had to do. My Mum told me to take a pandol and take my temperature. My temperature at that time was 38.7 Degress Celsius. I took the pandol and went back to sleep. At 5.30am, my Mum woke me up and i took my temperature again. It was about 38 Degress Celsius. My Dad told me to go to bed and i went to bed. I only woke up at 8am. I stoned on the sofa for a very long time. At 1.35pm, i found out devastating news. We lost the Tee Ball match 9-1!! We got trashed! Anyway, we could have beaten them but because me and Daniel did not come cause we were sick, we lost! May continue tonight...

Five Facts about St Teresa's Church

1) Although St Teresa's Church is a diosesian church, only 1 out of the 3 priest there is a diosesian priest. The other priest is a French missionary priest and a Port Chaplin.

2) St Teresa's Church is the only church with an outdoor columbarium. It is also the first church to have a columbarium. That is why the Archbishop comes to say mass for every All Souls Day mass.

3) St Teresa's Church is also the only church with a Romano-Byzantine architecture. If you have been to the church, you would notice that the architecture is very unique and special. The Carmalite Monastery also has a near similar design but is smaller.

4) There is only 1 Singaporean priest in the church. The other is a French and the other is from Philippines.

5) The church was just renovated recently. Now, the church is fully air conditioned and new plasma TVs have been added. My advice for you is to visit the church on Maunday Thursday or on All Souls Day.

3) Holy Family Church- Nice church. looks small on the outside but is huge when you go into the church. Double story church...

4) St Mary of The Angles- Another nice church with beautiful architecture. Big and nice.

5) Cathedral of The Good Shepard- Nice church..A little stuffy inside though but other than that, it is a nice church...

I served the 10am mass in my church. Mass was long. It was about 1 hr 15min long! On the same day, i met Hannah in my church. I also went for an Easter Party. I did not stay at the Easter Party for long. I just went there to take my food and went down to the priest's dining room to eat with Fr Arro and Fr Damien. After having lunch with them, i had some wine. It was fruit wine with 7% alcohol. It was nice. After lunch with the priests, i went home to watch Band of Brothers. I finally finish watching the show. My favourite characters in the whole show are:

Major Winters and Captain Speirs who later became a LTC.

Anyway, i was suppose to help in the baptisim for the 6pm mass but did not go in the end. I went for dinner with my family instead. Going out with priest again for dinner tomorrow. Will continue tomorrow.

Sunday, April 08, 2007

Well, i think that the Easter Vigil mass in my Church was relatively good. Except for a few things that happened in the sanctuary. First of all, i found a server sleeping through one of the readings. I had to go and wake him up. Second, Father did not give proper instructions and the nice part during the Gloria was destroyed. Father was so irritated that he went into the sacristy and shouted i think. Good thing was that i was not inside. All Father wanted were candles!! Other than that, the mass went well. The choir was excellent. Had to escort 4 carmilite sisiters back to the convent after mass as there was an attempeted break in the night before so me and my brother acted as bodyguards. Other than that nothing much happened yesterday. Just one more thing before i end off...

HAVE A HAPPY EASTER AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT JESUS HAS RISEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, April 06, 2007

Yes, i know that i said facts but the truth is that i am not very sure...haha...but some of these are facts.

1. Bells are not rung on Good Friday. It is such a solmmen day that no bells are to be rung. Instead, clappers are used.

2. Good Friday "mass" is not a mass but a service. The holy communion you ate was consecrated on Maunday Thursday.

3. People below the age of 18 need not fast and abstain on either Ash Wednesday and Good Friday ( Canon 1251, 1252). This is true. Read the ORDO on page 19.

4. Red is used for Good Friday services as the colour red signifies Jesuses' obedience to death. It also stands for fire and blood.

5. Good Friday is the only day in the whole church where a mass is prohibited.

Friday, April 06, 2007

As you may have guessed, today is Good Friday. I went for a children's service at 9.30am in the morning and i must say, it was quite confusing. First of all, there was a passion play. The servers, 4 of us, could slack during the passion play as the play was on the stage in the auditorium and the servers sat backstage. The passion play was good but the problem is that i could barely see anything. The passion play was about 1 hour long. After the passion play, the service started. Father had to prostrate himself in front of the altar as prostrating is the humblest form of praising God. The Gospel was super long but not as long as Palm Sunday. I was following the gospel with my book. The book only had 2 pages of the gospel. When i looked at my friend's book, i saw that there was about 5 pages to the gospel. I put down my book and looked at the projection. Got neck pains after mass. When i got home, i went to my room to watch Band of Brothers for about 3 hours then took a nap before going for dinner. I had a very light breakfast and an ok dinner. Will be going to church for the Easter Vigil and for the Easter Vigil practice.

Friday, April 06, 2007

Well, yesterday was Maunday Thursday. It was also the last day of school for 2 weeks. It was also the day when the chrism mass was being held in Holy Family Church which i wanted to go for but could not for obvious reasons.(Hint: The mass was in the morning)
Anyway, there were 2 masses in my church. There was the not so important 5pm mass and the very important 7pm mass. I did the thurible for the 5pm mass and the boat for the 7pm mass. I did not even have a break between masses. Finally, after the 7pm mass, i had dinner. The servers followed the St Teresa's Church tradition and ordered pizza to eat after the mass. Part of the St Teresa's Church Altar Servers tradition also happens to be wrapping easter eggs to be sold on Holy Saturday or the Easter Vigil. I managed to escape this by volunteering to teach servers how to do adoration and to call them up for their duties. My adoration started at 11pm and i did 20mins of silent reflection and prayers. Unfortunately for me, there was no choir singing so the chances for me to fall asleep was nearly doubled. Luckily for me, i did not fall asleep and managed to keep vigil. I am serving mass tomorrow, or today at 9.30am.
